BABY YAK - CAAD -

In 2010, to enable herders to make their livelihood from their livestock and nomadic lifestyle while respecting the environment while having access to a fair and sustainable income, AVSF encouraged the marketing activities of yak wool. By providing technical assistance, AVSF managed to connect herders in the Arkhangai region with other markets, not only Mongolians but also European and as result of it the “Cooperative Ar Arvidjin Delgerekh” (CAAD) was established.

In 2022, the CAAD is bringing together 236 active herder households in 6 regions of Arkhangai. With the help of textile professional community from the Ulaanbaatar, accompanied by the work of Mongolian industries for knitting and assembly, the cooperative has created its own brand of finished products: “Baby Yak”.

It is the first cooperative in Mongolia to supply the luxury textile industries in Europe – France – Italy – Spain – with baby yak fibers.

In 2021, CAAD is now a member of the Sustainable Cashmere Union.
